PopupEvents (popupevents.ai) is a Denver event-discovery site. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we do with it. We don't sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Newsletter. If you sign up, we store your email address, the area you picked (for example Denver or Mountains), how often you want email, and whether you confirmed. We also store how you found us: the page you signed up on, the website that linked you here (just its domain), and any campaign tags in the link you followed (utm_source and similar). Our email provider, Resend, stores this and sends the emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Accounts and saved events. If you sign in, we store your email address, the events you save, and the email preferences you pick (area, how often, themes you like). Sign-in uses a one-time email link: we keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of each link, it expires after 15 minutes, and it works once. To slow down abuse we briefly record sign-in attempts, keyed by a scrambled form of your email and IP address, and delete those records after about a day. We use your saved events to email you a reminder the day before each one.
- RSVPs. When you RSVP to a PopupEvents night we store your name, email, the event, and the payment status. Paid RSVPs are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Forms and organizer accounts. If you send a vendor, partner, or staffing form, we store the contact details and message you give us so we can reply. Event organizers who sign in have an account with their name, email, and a hashed password.
- Clicks and plays. When you click an outbound ticket or info link, open a page in our in-app viewer, press play on a Spotify player, or save, share, or add an event to your calendar, we record an anonymous event: the event ID, the destination domain, the button label, and where on the site the click happened. These events are logged on our hosting provider, Vercel. We also count newsletter sign-up steps (the form was seen, submitted, succeeded or failed, and the confirm page was opened or confirmed) with the page and the campaign tags or linking domain from your first page visit. Those tags are kept in your browser tab's session storage until you close the tab. None of these events include your name, email, IP address, or a tracking cookie.
- Basic server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived technical logs (for example the request time and pages requested) to run and secure the site.
- Cookies. We set a sign-in cookie only when you sign in: one for guest accounts (it keeps you signed in for up to 30 days) and one for event organizers. They hold a signed account ID and expiry, nothing else, and sign-out removes them. Guests browsing events don't get an advertising or analytics cookie from us.
Third-party content on our pages
Some pages show content loaded directly from other companies. When it loads, that company may receive your IP address and browser details and set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy:
- Spotify: artist players on music events.
- OpenStreetMap: inline maps on event pages.
- Google Maps: opens only when you tap “Directions.”
- Organizer and ticket sites: open when you tap a ticket or info link, either in a new tab or in our in-app viewer.
Affiliate links
Some ticket links may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, PopupEvents may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The ticket seller may then know that you came from PopupEvents. See our affiliate disclosure.
How we use it
We use this information to send the emails you asked for (including reminders for events you saved), keep you signed in, manage RSVPs and payments, answer the forms you send, understand which events and links are useful, and keep the site running and secure.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
- Change your email preferences, remove saved events, or delete your account from your account page. Deleting removes your account, saved events, and sign-in links.
- You can ask us to show, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
